My name is Audrey, and I am currently researching within the field of immersive audio, psychology, and healing practices. I am honored to be part of the Audio & Performance Lab at UnionDocs, where my goal is to explore the relationship between nature, perception, immersive sound, and the human experience.
At Audio & Performance Lab, I will be able to work on my research under the support of peers and mentors.
My research asks:
– How does the design of immersive audio shape how people feel and experience the world?
– In what ways can immersive audio be a tool for healing, processing grief, and supporting emotional resilience?
– How might immersive audio, when inspired by nature and ecology, recreate a sense of connection that supports wellness?
This work is deeply personal to me, and I believe that by combining art, science, and embodied experience, immersive audio can open new pathways toward care, reflection, and recovery.

Audrey
Yi-Han (Audrey) Chou is a Choreographer, New Media Artist, and Researcher working across time-based and embodied mediums. She holds a BFA in Fashion Design from Parsons School of Design with a minor in Contemporary Dance from Eugene Lang College at The New School, and an MPS from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP).
Her multidisciplinary research spans interactive design, experimental filmmaking, site-specific performance, sound design, real-time systems, and immersive production. Through cross-disciplinary frameworks, She explores themes of dysphoria, displacement, and sonic landscapes—centering embodied storytelling as a method of artistic inquiry.
Her practice investigates the intersections of movement, identity, and sensory perception, drawing on cultural memory, ecological awareness, and temporal healing as conceptual anchors.
Audrey’s work has been presented at venues and platforms including Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab, Submarine Gallery, Taipei American School, BRIC.TV, UAAD, Anthology Film Archives, Dance Film Lab at Gibney, ARTECHOUSE, La MaMa Culture Hub (Artiface), and Abrons Art Center.
